Ph.D. Seminar
Pre-conference
Ph.D. Research Consortium
As part of
the MCP'03 Congress, we will offer a Pre-Conference
Research Consortium targeted especially to doctoral
students. Its theme, "Gaining Competitive Advantage
through Customer Interaction" is corresponding
with the congress scope, but to encourage in-depth discussions
during the one-day session it focuses on economic
and behavioral perspectives that shed light on management
and marketing issues of customer interaction. The
session is scheduled just one day before the congress.
The consortium
aims to provide doctoral students with an opportunity
to discuss their research with leading academics and
to start building relationships with other students
from around the world. We encourage participants to
present original material in its developmental stages.
In particular, we especially want to help Ph.D. students
develop their dissertation in this forum. All pertinent
perspectives, topics and methodological approaches are
welcomed.
Participants
are required to submit a 5-page abstract of their research
by August 1, 2003. This abstract should describe: (1)
the issue being researched and why it is important;
(2) the concepts and frameworks to be adopted; (3) the
research methodology; and (4) the contribution the student
anticipates the research will make.
Please note
that the scope of the doctoral research consortium are
economic and behavioral perspectives on management and
marketing issues in customer interaction.
Please save
your abstract in an MS Word compatible format with a
file name that starts with your surname - for example,
"Miller MCP03 preconf consinteract.doc." Abstracts
will be circulated to all participants in advance. During
the consortium, students will make short presentations
(10 minutes) of their work, focusing on the most important
problems in their research. After each presentation,
both the faculty panel and fellow students will provide
valuable feedback on their proposals.
To register
for the Pre-conference Research Consortium, contact
Christoph Ihl (ihl@ws.tum.de;
phone: +49/89/36078 234). Please include a provisional
title for your abstract and your University affiliation.
Participation will be granted on a first-come, first-serve
basis. The deadline for registering is August 1, 2003.
Abstracts must be submitted by that date, or the space
may be allotted to another person. We are limiting the
consortium to 20 participants. There is no extra registration
fee. You may ask for accomodation with a local Ph.D.
student to save hotel expenses.
