MCPC 2003 as Networking Event

We received great feedback on our call for papers which yielded over 200 submissions. We are very pleased by the scope and scale of contributions. Papers have been submitted from various disciplines and schools. Thus, the MCPC 2003, such as the 2001 conference in Hong Kong, will gather people with different backgrounds and provide a good platform for interaction, discussion, and exchange. We will have manifold tracks on different aspects of mass customization and personalization with a large variety of perspectives and approaches to each aspect.

Interest from industry is already strong as well, since many companies and practitioners indicated their participation. We are confident that the conference can meet its main objective to provide a fruitful exchange between academics and industry. We hope that academics will be challenged to match their thinking with managers, who do not always practice what academics preach and put their own best practices to discussion instead. Managers in turn will gain insights from visionary academics that go beyond current ways of doing business. To facilitate this exchange, there will be workshops before and after the conference as well as business seminars throughout the conference program which are especially targeted to discuss best practices and to integrate apparently opposing perspectives.
